GEORGIA TOPS OHIO STATE 42-41 IN INTENSE CFP SEMIFINAL

ATLANTA, GA - The Georgia Bulldogs strike again to win their second CFP semifinal in two years in the Chic-Fil-A Peach Bowl Sunday morning. Georgia won the game after an Ohio State missed field goal attempt from 50 yards right at 12am.

For a lot of the game, it seemed as if CJ Stroud and The Buckeyes were going to upset The Bulldogs, that was until the last 15 minutes of the game when the crowd waved their hands holding up fours. Going into the 4th quarter, Ohio State had Georgia by at least three scores, but Stetson Bennett and his team had other plans.

UGA began their scoring in the fourth with a 31 yard field goal 5 minutes into the quarter. Then they continued to score with the 76 yard Bennett touchdown pass to Arian Smith and 2 point conversion by Ladd Mcconkey. Ohio State followed the two scores with a 48 yard field goal minutes after.

The nailbiting for UGA fans began after Adonai Mitchell’s 10 yard touchdown that left Georgia up by one point with 54 seconds left on the clock.

While the rest of the real world was counting down the seconds until the end of 2022, Ohio State was doing its best to figure out how to make it to the CFP National Championship. The Georgia defense did their best to win the game, but left Ohio State in range for a 50 yard field goal, one that OSU kicker Noah Ruggles hasn’t made in his career yet after 4 total attempts from 50+ yards.

Tick-tock. With 8 seconds left Ruggles hooks the kick to the left, and the Georgia Bulldogs close out 2022 in their home state, in the Mercedes Benz stadium, undefeated.

UGA advances and will play TCU for the CFP National Championship Monday, January 9th.
