CHASE CROSS: ATHLETIC PROFILE
UPDATED 10 JANUARY 2022
Chase Cross is 6’0 Outside Hitter weighing 160 lbs. Cross currently plays Mens Volleyball at Reinhardt University.
ABOUT:
Cross began playing volleyball at a very young age, when boys volleyball wasn’t very popular. He was a part of one of the first teams of boys to play volleyball in Middle Georgia. He started playing with CGVA and eventually moved on to play with a very notable club called A5 once he began high school. Playing a sport that wasn’t very popular was definitely different for Chase but ended up impacting the area in a very meaningful way. Now, there are plenty of boys and men that are not only interested in playing but now currently play. There are 4 high school teams and at least one club team in the area (2018-2021 there was only one high school team and no club teams). Through setting records, and being an overall example of how great the sport is, Cross has had a meaningful impact on the sport of boys/mens volleyball in Middle Georgia.

Playing for the 18U team in 2017, Cross and his team attended 10 tournaments with 5 first place finishes (4 gold 1 silver) and 4 second place finishes. In his last year of club volleyball, 2018, Cross competed in 7 tournaments with 4 first place finishes and 3 third place finishes.

Before graduating, he served as the team captain of his team, competing in several tournaments, and also managed the girls volleyball team from 2015-2019 as well. He set the school record of the most kills, aces, and digs. Cross was the first of two men in Houston County GA to recieve a men’s volleyball scholarship.
CURRENT VOLLEYBALL CAREER:
-Reinhardt University 2019-Now
As a freshman, Cross was a team captain and a starter right from the beginning. Even though the season wasn’t as he would have liked it (due to COVID-19 reasons), he was still nominated for Off The Block: Georgia Player of the Year with 2.7 kills/set, a hitting percentage of .135, 1.37 digs/set, and a total of 188 kills and 104 digs.
In his sophomore season, once again a starter and team captain, Cross was selected All-Mid-South Conference Honorable Mention and held the program record of most aces in match with a total of 7 aces. After one year, his hitting percentage rose to .206 with 2.43 kills/set, and 202 total kills. Cross played in 83 sets and totaled 122 digs, 322 aces, and 23 blocks for the season.
WHAT’S NEXT:
Cross is now in his third season of collegiate men’s volleyball at Reinhardt University and is excited for what is to come in the future, but it doesn’t stop there.
He hopes to continue playing volleyball and having some sort of influence with the sport for many years to come. Whether that is continuing to play with a men’s team post-college, playing AVP tournaments, coaching, and/or playing casually.
