BRANDON HUDSON: athlete’s story

A career may be the simplest way to define a person, but you can’t truly define someone until you have met them.

A few weeks ago I got the pleasure to get in the gym with one of the coolest athletes I’ve ever met, Brandon Hudson. This guy is more than just basketball, he is an outstanding individual with serious potential. Originally I was just going into the gym to take some photos and work with a few different athletes and instead I met Brandon, thankfully I got the opportunity to give him an interview and I ended up learning a tremendous amount of things about life and basketball.

Brandon Hudson is a basketball player from Albany, Georgia. He started playing basketball at Woodward High School. During his time at Woodward he played for a few intense travel teams such as the Albany Heat, Georgia Blazers, and the Macon Bucks. Hudson got the pleasure to play with guys like Kentavious Caldwell Pope and Nick Marshall.

After high school he went on to play at Albany Tech and redshirted his first year after and had two good years after that. Then he signed to Albany State and took a medical red shirt the first year after being injured 4 games into his season.

His second year at Albany State he began the season averaging around 17 ppg with his best game against Georgia Southwestern in which he scored 21 points, had 3 blocks and 3 steals, and 2 assists.

One of the biggest things that I learned, and I think everyone should learn is that there is much more to life than the games that we play and the professions that we have. Hudson has dreams and instead of just chasing them, he is making them happen right now.

Midway into his junior season at Albany State, his coach told him that he would not have a senior year due to things out of his control with his medical redshirt season, and he ended up departing 3/4 of the way through.

I’ve just been grinding, grinding, grinding going to camps, getting exposure because I know I can play at any level I put my mind to. My goal is to keep moving forward to provide for my family. Basketball. That’s it.

With his YouTube channel and his clothing brand Hudson is already impacting several people. His youtube with his fiance is called T&B TV and has multiple videos with over 10 thousand views. His brand is called Eternal Universal with the idea of being positive and being one with everything. He wants to focus on treating everyone equal and not looking down on anyone.

I have had several opportunities to watch him in the gym and even the pleasure to play with him. He has a great attitude and believes that anyone can achieve their goals as long as they are willing to put in the work needed to succeed.

Crafty, is one of the many words I would use to explain him and his game. Hudson finds several ways to achieve his goals and doesn’t let failure get in the way. He has made his way through several obstacles and doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon. When it comes to his game, there are several ways he can score: whether by shooting the ball from several different ranges, finding holes and openings, simply overpowering others by driving in the paint, or even by finding ways to get others on the court to score… this guy can do it all.

In our interview I learned several things, not only about him as an individual, but also about life as a whole. Firstly Brandon is a prime example of perserverence. throughout his walk and endeavors in life and in basketball he hasn’t quit. It’s very transparent that he is motivated by many dreams.

I want to let my story be motivation for different people who have been in my shoes and to shed light on any positivity and hard work and grinding. I want to keep God first no matter what.
